Hangzhou Lawyers Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) was established in September 1991. It is a social organization legal person established according to law. It is an industry self-discipline organization of lawyers. It administers Hangzhou lawyers according to law, and is supervised and guided by Hangzhou Judicial Bureau and Zhejiang Lawyers Association.

In accordance with the law of the people's Republic of China on lawyers, lawyers (including company lawyers, public lawyers and legal aid lawyers) who have obtained the lawyer's practicing certificate according to law upon the application of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of justice are individual members of the Association; The law firm that has been declared and legally approved by Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of justice is a group member of the association. The association has more than 11000 individual members and more than 600 group members.

The main responsibilities of the association are: to undertake the professional management of lawyers; To ensure that lawyers practice according to law and safeguard the legal rights and interests of lawyers; Summarize and exchange lawyers' work experience and participate in social welfare activities; Organize lawyers' professional training, professional ethics and professional discipline education, and assess lawyers' practice activities; To organize and manage the internship activities of the lawyers applying for practicing, and assess the interns; Reward and punish lawyers and law firms; Accept complaints or reports against lawyers, mediate disputes arising from lawyers' practice activities, and accept lawyers' complaints; We will develop lawyers' welfare undertakings and hold various cultural and sports activities.

The lawyers' Congress is the highest authority of the association, with a term of office of four years. The Council is the permanent authority of the lawyers' Congress. It is elected by the lawyers' Congress and is responsible to the lawyers' Congress. The Standing Council is the permanent authority of the Council and exercises its functions and powers when the Council is not in session. The association has a Secretariat as the executive organ of the association, which is responsible for implementing the resolutions and decisions of the lawyers' Congress, the Council and the Standing Council, and undertaking the daily work of the lawyers association.

According to the needs of the development of the industry, the association has set up an ethics and Discipline Committee and 18 special committees as the specialized working bodies to perform their duties. Among them, there are 33 professional committees under the business guidance and Education Committee, which organize the theoretical research and business exchange activities of lawyer's business, and draft the business norms related to lawyers, so as to improve the practicing level and image of lawyers.
