Taizhou intermediate court was established on September 11, 1950, when it was called Taizhou Branch of Zhejiang Provincial People's court. The trial office building of Taizhou intermediate court is located at No. 399, Shifu Avenue, Taizhou Economic Development Zone, covering an area of 33 Mu and a building area of 23500 square meters. It was opened in March 2001. Taizhou intermediate court has 23 functional departments, including office, organization and personnel department, publicity and education department, supervision room, research room, judicial police detachment, trial management department, judicial identification department, judicial administrative equipment management department, Party committee of organs, criminal trial chamber 1, criminal trial chamber 2, civil trial chamber 1, civil trial chamber 2, civil trial chamber 3 (intellectual property court), administrative trial chamber, case filing chamber 1 The second case filing division, the trial supervision division, the commutation and parole trial division, the execution division, the execution supervision division, and the execution comprehensive division. Taizhou intermediate court actually has 181 employees, including 163 for the central political and legal department and 18 for local institutions. Among the administrative and career personnel, 113 have bachelor's degrees, 53 have postgraduate degrees and master's degrees.

Taizhou intermediate court has jurisdiction over 9 basic courts in Jiaojiang, Huangyan and Luqiao districts, Linhai and Wenling cities, and Yuhuan, Tiantai, Xianju and Sanmen counties. Each basic court has 20 dispatched courts. The courts at the two levels in the city actually have 1356 employees, including 1238 for the central political and legal department and 118 for local institutions. There were 1255 staff members with bachelor degree or above, accounting for 92.6%.

In 2014, under the leadership, supervision and guidance of the municipal Party committee, the Municipal People's Congress and its Standing Committee, and the higher courts, and with the care and support of the municipal government, the Municipal People's Association, and all walks of life, the courts of the city faithfully performed the duties entrusted by the Constitution and laws, and made new progress in various work. The courts in the city received 117501 new cases of various types and settled 114410 cases, up 8.9% and 7.51% respectively year-on-year. Among them, the intermediate court received 5098 new cases and settled 5134 cases, up 27.39% and 33.21% respectively year-on-year.
