Zhoushan Intermediate Court
       
 

Zhoushan intermediate court has jurisdiction over the courts of Dinghai and Putuo districts and Daishan and Shengsi counties. The four basic courts have jurisdiction over 13 courts. In recent years, the courts in the city have handled about 10000 cases annually.

On May 17, 1950, Zhoushan was liberated. In September, Dinghai County Court was established. In February 1953, Zhoushan special district was established. In August, Zhoushan branch of Zhejiang Provincial Court was established, which administers four county courts of Dinghai, Putuo, Daishan and Shengsi. In January 1955, Zhoushan branch was renamed Zhoushan District intermediate court of Zhejiang Province. In August 1959, it was renamed Zhoushan County Court. In July 1962, the Zhoushan District intermediate court was restored. In December 1967, the military control committee of the regional public security, procuratorial and judicial organs was established. In March 1973, the Zhoushan District intermediate court was restored. After Zhoushan was relocated to the city in January 1987, it was renamed Zhoushan City Intermediate Court in April of the same year. It administers Dinghai and Putuo districts and the courts of Daishan and Shengsi counties.

At the beginning of the establishment of the court, the office was located in Dinghai middle street. In early 1953, it was moved to Dinghai West Street. In March 1973, it was moved to Jiefang West Road, Dinghai. In July 1983, it was moved to No. 1, Haiyong Road, Dinghai. In September 1996, it was moved to the court building at No. 215, Changguo Road, Dinghai. The current trial office building is located at No. 221, Qiandao Road, Lincheng New District. The building was built on March 5, 2004 and completed on May 26, 2006.

The main duties of Zhoushan intermediate court are to try criminal, civil, administrative and various retrial cases of the first and second instance according to law; Examining and adjudicating cases of commutation and parole; Exercise the power of judicial execution according to law, and uniformly manage and coordinate the execution of the courts of the whole city; To guide the trial work, ideological and political work, education and training of the grass-roots courts; Coordinate and plan the construction of "two courts" of the courts of the whole city.

Zhoushan intermediate court has 15 departments. As of 2009, there were 101 policemen on the staff.
